Walking in the vicinity

Both the highly trained hiker and the recreational walker can take wonderful trips by foot in the area around De Kuilart: to and through the woods, along the water, over the IJsselmeer dike, etc. Walks of cultural and historic interest can be made through the various villages and cities. And nature walks are another favourite.

Both lovers of culture and lovers of nature can find what they want here. Throughout the year, nature and landscape management organizations such as the National Forest Service and 'it Fryske Gea' (promoting the Friesian landscape) give nature walks and excursions in the region. Another event is the annual multiple-day eleven-city walk (220 kilometres) for walkers.
